JUNEAU, Alaska - Another Republican is exploring a run against Democratic U.S. Sen. Mark Begich in 2014.
Joe Miller announced Sunday that he is launching an exploratory committee.
Miller was a tea party favorite during his unsuccessful challenge to U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, a fellow Republican, in 2010. In a statement on his website Sunday, Miller said he was unaware of another potential candidate "who has demonstrated a willingness to challenge the status quo, and confront the culture of corruption that reaches to the highest levels of American government."
Miller joins Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell in announcing an interest in taking on Begich.
Begich has been gearing up for what is expected to be a hotly contested and expensive race. He reported ending the last quarter with $1.5 million on hand.
