ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Anchorage police say a man found dead near the Sullivan Arena had lived at a local center that allows homeless alcoholics to drink in their rooms.
Police say 44-year-old Jacob Shavings was a resident of Karluk Manor.
Shavings' body was found in the woods behind the arena Tuesday morning.
Police say the results of an autopsy by the state medical examiner's office have ruled out foul play. Further test results will be available later.
Last year, two people were reported dead at the Karluk. The first death was reported on New Year's Day of that year.
The Karluk is based on the Housing First model that maintains chronic alcoholics are best served by providing them with safe housing as a first step toward self-sufficiency and eventual integration into the community.
