ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Residents in many parts of Alaska continue Monday to dig out from the first significant snowfall of the season.
The Anchorage Daily News reports (http://is.gd/Aw2y9z) the state's largest city got 7 inches of snow overnight.
Other snowfall totals from across the state include nearly a foot of snow in Fairbanks, more than 2 feet in Valdez and about 3 feet at Hatcher Pass in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.
Anchorage police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro says between midnight and noon Monday, there were 58 vehicles in distress because of the storm. There were 16 accidents, two with injuries.
That's on top of 48 accidents on Sunday, six of those with injuries. Police report 65 vehicles were in distress on Sunday.
