Clinton stumps, parades, says nothing about Palin

Published Saturday, September 6, 2008

NEW YORK -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton marched for labor and stumped with Democrats on Saturday, but sidestepped questions about the woman who has taken her place as the nation's most-talked-about female leader.

Clinton brushed aside questions about Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin during appearances at New York City's annual Labor Day parade and later during a stop on Staten Island.

"This election is about issues, and that's what's going to matter to people at the end of the day," she told reporters who asked her about the Alaska governor at a rally for a Democratic congressional candidate at Wagner College.

Clinton joined other New York politicians for a Saturday morning breakfast with union leaders in Manhattan, then marched up Fifth Avenue in the city's annual labor parade.

In the afternoon on Staten Island, she stumped for Democrat Mike McMahon, who is running for a congressional seat being vacated by Republican Vito Fossella.

Fossella decided not to seek re-election after a drunken driving arrest and a revelation that he fathered a child outside his marriage.

No longer a presidential candidate, Clinton was still welcomed warmly at all three events. Some supporters at her Staten Island rally brought old "Clinton for President" placards.

She only mentioned Palin by name once during the day, at the labor breakfast, when she uttered a modified version of a line from her speech at the Democratic National Convention.

"No way, no how, no McCain, no Palin," she said.

Don't think Hillary was left "speechless." Better yet, from my standpoint, she doesn't consider Sarah much of a threat.
Anybody with political substance can get in front of a crowd of SUPPORTERS, crack jokes about "lipstick," and be condescending towards the opposition.
The real test comes when you have to come out of that comfort zone, and talk to REAL PEOPLE, with REAL ISSUES.
To hell with jokes....what do you have for folks, IN THIS COUNTRY, who are losing their homes? Their jobs?....getting the lights turned off? Going hungry? The list goes on.
Can you step in their shoes, empathize, and give them hope for a better day?
And no...I'm NOT talking about government handouts and the like.
You see, "adoring" Sarah Palin means absolutely nothing to people who deal with some of the everyday things I just mentioned.
Sarah Palin is asking citizens to vote for someone who SAYS he represents "change," but who admittedly sided with the "same old same old" 90 percent of the time.
I agree with Hillary Clinton here.
She doesn't want to TALK about Sarah Palin....because Sarah Palin is a virtual non-issue.....when we're talking about the issues that truly mean something to America....and the pitiful state our country currently resides in.

I think the best scenerio I have for this situation is Hillary as the mama and Sarah as the step-mama.

I don't know many 1st mamas that have anything nice to say about the step mamas... and if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all! Go Hillary! You are one hell of a lady!

"Finally someone who has left Hilary speechless. "

LOL! Hillary is a class act and knows it is best to keep the Palin debacle low key and focus on the issues!

Thanks, Hillary, for involving yourself in the Obama/Biden campaign. Let's knock 'em dead!

I am surprised that the Obama campaign hasn't set Hilary on the attack of Palin. She would be the ideal person to neutralize her.

I am also surprised that Hilary isn't eager to put a stop to Palin. Palin is set to take her spot in history, and is going to support political views that are directly against Hilary Clintons. One would think she would be eager to attack, instead of moping about losing.

As a real woman,Hillary can not hold up to Sarah.
Two different kind of people, in a real big way. Sarah is more of a self made person. Hillary has made herself from of the work of others and thinks that she can just blend in with all the other wastefull gov. positions. No body is really listening to her anymore. That is why she, once and for all, kept her big mouth shut.
I see the Clinton's as being pretty much done.
But for Bill, he should go into comedy, he would be a real big hit esp. if he would go into slamming on Hillary and talking about his girlfriends and his lesbo daughter, HAAAA that would be great stand up comedy.
