Letter to the Editor

Poor journalism

To the editor:

I am disappointed in the mainstream media’s pattern of following The New York Times and whatever they send out to everyone. The so-called “journalists” have attacked Gov. Palin’s small-town origins, her husband, her teenage daughter, her hairdo and her lipstick. Rarely do they recognize accomplishment.

Local media especially should have figured it out by now that Sarah Palin is a strong governor, a working mother and a proven reformer. We can be proud of Sarah and her record, no matter how much mud they sling.

The trouble is that much of the so called mud are FACTS. Facts that do not reflect well on Sarah Palin and her capability to be Governor of Alaska, let alone Vice President of the United States.

We want politicians who don't use their office for personal gain or to follow personal agendas inappropriate for the office. We want leaders with management skills that we would rate as good or better, not poor. We want leaders that don't lie to the public, that aren't hypocrites. Leaders that don't follow claims of open and transparent government with secret emails, cover-ups and refusals to obey lawful subpoenas.

In short, many of us no longer want Sarah Palin as our elected leader.

    To those who favor Obama,

I didn't like McCain (and was "torn" between voting for him and not voting at all until Sarah came along). You may be right about McCain but I think you're wrong about Obama. With all of the flaws that McCain (and, for that matter, Palin) have, I think the McCain/Palin Ticket is the better choice.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see who wins (and who is upset by that). The difference, I think, will be that I will just be upset if Obama wins whereas you all will be shouting "foul" or "Voter Fraud" if McCain & Palin win...

Librul Mainstream Media is a myth. Most of the News Media has been gobbled up by a few Neo Con Conglomerates, who in turn are owned and or operated by Israeli entities or individuals. They in turn are paid billions of American Taxpayer dollars a year to lie, deceive and manipulate news to paint a rosie picture of the Neo Con policies and actions while stifling and refusing to print anything negative of them. Propaganda.
Alaska has shown its amount of education in electing our "Pitbull with Lipstick".. From the failure of even the soft Couric interview to the failure of her debate with Biden, her die hard supporters show what amount of education they had.
Conflict of Interest and Collusion has been legalized by the Neo Con Parasites infesting the Executive Branch and the equally Corrupt Legislative Branch and they're yanking hundreds of billions of American Taxpayer dollars from programs benefitting the vast majority of Americans and, instead, are giving the same monies to their Corporate Pimps, the rich and super rich and themselves. Comprised of 1-5% of Americans. Taxation Without Representation!
A, up to 53-54 trillion American Taxpayer dollar deficit, in direct and indirect costs, was and is foisted on us by the Neo Con led Republican Party. We're mired down in a country with no ties to 9/11 that cost up to 3 trillion borrowed dollars, in direct and indirect costs. I'd bet most of the deficit and the Vietnam, Oops, I mean Iraqi War monies are safe in the Neo Con Parasites offshore accounts.. Like Halliburton.. Meanwhile Afghanistan is exploding.. And where is Bin Laden and al-Qaeda?
Remember, Americans had the Revolutionary War because of Taxation Without Representation, against a King George, his hired Mercenary Armies and few American supporters called Tories.
We have again, another King George, who put hisself above the law and accountable to no one, with his many signing statements,, With his Neo Con Cronies hired Mercenary Armies, masquerading as "Contractors", and the Neo Con Parasites, Republican Mushrooms who are kept in the dark and fed feces by the Neo Con News Media, and the Religious Idiots who are trying to ram their morphed version of Christianity down our throats... They comprise the 11-21% of Americans supporting our King Pinocchio(Pathological Liar and Pathological Failure), and Shotgun Cheney(Shotgunned his buddy while intoxicated).
When it comes down to brass tacks and technicalities... It's called Treason!
But we won't call it that will we??? We'll just bleat like the sheep we are whenever the Neo Con Parasites mention... Bin Laden and al-Qaeda..
Yep you can paint whitewash on a turd, but in the end, it's still a turd!

If you mean, to ask her questions that a vice head of state ought to have solid answers to and solid evidence to support her theories and claims, then I think she deserves everything she is getting. She has applied for the job and is undergoing the interview process with 300 million employers. Should it be easy? Hell no! Should she provide direct, honest, on-topic answers to softball questions from Gibson, Couric and Hannity? You bet! If I were interviewing for a job and I answered a question from my potential employer in a less-than-truthful or evasive manner, I expect them to pick up on that and probably hold it against me. Instead I am gainfully employed having been truthful in the answers I was asked throughout my interviews. I guarantee you my employers appreciate the fact they can trust me.

The media digs up the dirt because they are not offered anything else to talk about. The McCain handler's refuse to allow real press conferences for Ms. Palin. Her friends and family are only allowed to speak to vetted press. So the media looks for their own story line, i.e. bridges, aircraft sales, over-priced sports complexes, etc.

As I have said before, given direction, the press will look under the rocks you point too. If you don't give them hints, they look under all the rocks. Since the McCain/Palin camp treat the press with contempt, the press reciprocated.

If I knew then what I have know now - I would not have voted for her two years ago. And I can't vote for her now because of what we have learned - or, what her handler's have let us learn. She is not an independent maverick, she is a sheep following orders.

As Will Rogers said, "It is not what we don't know that hurts, it is what we know that ain't so."

    Sure.

I'd point out I was dissatisfied with her explanation of her foreign policy credentials which she suggested she has earned since AK shares borders with Russia and Canada and heads of state often fly over Alaska (!!). She also implied she has some participation in interceptions of Russian aircraft that fly near US territory (a patently false claim).

She speaks about Pakistan when asked about Iran.

She can't bring herself to concede that Cheney is full of crap in asserting the VP is not part of the Executive Branch, and indeed, himself invokes executive privilege from time to time.

Bravado about an agreement does not mean a gas line is going to be built, nor will drilling offshore or in ANWR solve our oil supply-and-demand woes.

"[Looking at yourself in the mirror and considering,] what would a maverick do?" is a vacuous strategy for policy decisions foreign or domestic, or for any decision for that matter.

Palin seems to have trouble being honest with the American public, and that belies trouble being honest with ones self.

Please note that prior to your asking if anyone had jobs, I assert that I do (in the same post I succinctly provide some support to the media for doing their jobs).

Realdeal, your insistence on misspelling my handle and your insinuation that I am not Alaskan along with your desperate and racist attempt to compare Obama to Muslim terrorists suggest you are indeed frightened. As to buying the White House, purchasing votes has a long tradition stretching well into the British Parliamentary system on which ours is based. If you believe that all votes are purchased, then I'd say the Republicans do more of the buying: Of the last 14 years, Repubs have controled the House for 12, the senate for 11, and the White House for 8.

I guess you never heard about Bush's Saudi financiers when he fashioned himself an oilman. First with Arbusto, then again with Harken Energy. Then during George HW Bush's reelection, campaign money came from the Saudis via James Bath (of BCCI fame, a known contributor to Osama Bin Laden). Later, SBC funnels Saudi money into Bush gubernatorial and presidential campaigns. Does this make Bush a terrorist? No, there is dirty money all over politics. Should he be in jail? Maybe, but not for any of the connections listed above.

I guess realdeal and Ms. Palin must be related. His initial response to my comment has nothing to do with the subject matter at hand. Sad that the only response some people have is energy.

Have you noticed that Ms. Palin doesn't bring the gas pipeline up in conversation as much anymore. Could it be the fact that she spend $500-million in advance on an agreement to look into construction with no guarantee that the pipeline has to be build. Or is it the fact that the gas won't start flowing until 2015 or later.

I have a friend in Atlanta who once asked me if Alaska was still in the U.S.. I told him yes and he asked why we were selling oil to the U.S. at OPEC prices. Couldn't answer that one. I did tell him that we pay a higher price for out gasoline and heat than they do down south. My friend used to live in Eagle River - he left when the pipeline was finished. He said he would come back to work on the new gas-line but the company that won the no-bid-bid was Canadian.

As for who is calling the shots while Ms. Palin is out campaigning? Call her office in Anchorage and ask a question about troopergate or e-mails - you will be referred to a McCain office in Virginia or a lawyer from Texas.

Like I said - I voted for her once - but now I want my state back......

Brassmonkey - very insightful. I have said that we should make Bush the Ambassador to China once he leaves Washington. I figure since he bankrupted his personal company, nearly bankrupted the Astro's, and well, look at the U.S. now. He should be able to destroy the Chinese economy by just showing up for work.

On 9/11 I was stuck in Boston because all flights were canceled. I was on the ramp at Logan Airport closing up the private jet I was commanding when another private jet was preparing to depart. I asked the security officer what was happening.

He told me that the jet was departing for Saudi Arabia on orders of the White House. The passengers? Bin Laden's brother and family. Curious.......

    Glockmod,

I finally made it through that abhorrent Hannity special, but they provided no reason Obama should be in jail. Nor do I think a hypothetical possibility that a Saudi professor influenced his entrance into Harvard Law remotely compares to the well-documented links and vast exchanges of money between Saudis (including Bin Ladens) and the Bush family.

I also didn't like the (out of context) footage of preachers using god as an excuse to be hateful. I can't delineate these hate-mongers from Hagee and Parsley (people from whom McCain sought and received endorsements). If I had my way, we'd be electing atheists and no politician would be able to use god as an a substitute for rationality or an excuse for bad behavior and insensitive remarks.

How did Obama afford his Harvard education?
Harvard and the other Ivy league colleges choose their
students based not on their financial needs but on their
academic records and qualifications. Once accepted,
these well-endowed universities take care of their students
with scholarships and loans. That is how Obama afforded
Harvard. That is how I afforded Harvard, as the child
    of an impoverished single mother.

The ignorant vitriol displayed in these responses is frightening
to me. When did education, intellgience, and achievement
become bad things? The Republicans have even found a way to
suggest that winning the Nobel Peace Prize is something
to ridicule. I do not understand the value of that,
except to distract and deceive voters.

We need a highly intelligent, insightful president to lead
us out of the morass we are in. Those of you who actually
beleive that Obama is a terrorist or communist or "evil"
Muslim (as if there were no other kind) or any of that other
horse hockey being thrown at you by the Republican party need
to get a big reality check. Obama is the best hope we have.

I had a lot of respect for McCain when this campaign
started, but am disappointed to see a distinguished war hero
and effective servant to the American people for decades
diminish himself by resorting to swift boat tactics rather
than keep on topic and offer us real solutions, and then
attempting to salvage his falling stats by chooseing Palin
and making her a distracting sideshow.

And, Obama's US birth certificate is on his website.

alaskaflower, here's my assignment -- In addition to my previous (and correct assertions), Alaska shares borders with Russia and Canada and Putin flies over Alaska. Not only that, we conduct trade with them even though they threaten us with military incursions!

    Couric interview:

    Couric:
You’ve cited Alaska’s proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?

    Sarah Palin:
That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and, on our other side, the land-boundary that we have with Canada. It’s funny that a comment like that was kinda made to ... I don’t know, you know ... reporters.

    ...

    Couric:
Well, explain to me why that enhances your foreign-policy credentials.

    Palin:
Well, it certainly does, because our, our next-door neighbors are foreign countries, there in the state that I am the executive of. And there...

    Couric:
Have you ever been involved in any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

    Palin:
We have trade missions back and forth, we do. It’s very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia. As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where do they go? It’s Alaska. It’s just right over the border. It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there, they are right next to our state.

    Gibson interview:

    GIBSON:
What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you?

    PALIN:
They're our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.

I'm not sure I can take Katie Couric seriously since 9/11. When she said after the first plane hit, on air, "What's wrong? Is their navigation system broken?"

It saddens me that the country has come to such extreme blows. Palin is respected, and if Alaskan's are too selfish than to support her whether she gets this job or not, we don't deserve her. The issue here is that she has done a lot for all of us. She has fought against oil companies and gotten us a $1500 rebate. She has worked her but off and gotten us a natural gas pipeline. These are huge things. Things that no other state can say they have accomplished. She has nothing to work off of, other than her own moral and her own will. She can't look back and see what Ohio, Wyoming, or California did when they were in a similar situation. She is doing this on her own.

Obama can look across the aisle and see who Chris Dodd voted for, and see who Nancy Pelosi voted for.... and base his vote off of theirs. How hard is that?!? I remember playing "follow the leader" when I was in Grade School... but I guess that is what Congress has turned in to.

Let's review her main accomplishments: She inherited a tremendous budget surplus, was not Frank Murkowski, and helped put together a Canadian gas pipeline. Everyone seems to forget that more than half the pipeline, if it is ever built, will be in Canada. Good for Sarah.

Glocmod23 - Do you know why Sean and Rush and Michael and the other hate-talk shock-jocks have to call themselves "entertainers" instead of "journalists"? Because it gives them the license to LIE, that's why. That video was utter bullcrap and total speculation of the worst kind. I can't believe anybody would even take that s**t seriously! There was not a single fact, except for the names of the schools he attended. And speculating his drug use? What about the blue-blooded frat-boy in the White House and his 40 years as an alcoholic coke-head until he was "born-again"? The death of brain cells is obvious in THAT boy! One of the quotes in the video was, "What we're dealing with here is very little information..." So heck, lets make our own story up and call it fact and don't tell our viewers we're not real journalists and they'll probably swallow this stuff hook, line, and sinker. What a joke. I'd love to see Mr. Oxycontin himself talk about Obama's drug use. Rush "should be in prison with the key thrown away," according to his own lying mouth before he got caught, but not busted, with thousands of pills.

Ruth, if you think the press on Palin is bad, watch that video of Hannity slamming Obama with pure conjecture and maybe you'll change your tune! Using the term "Muslim" as if it implied the devil himself, is as racist as it gets. This is AMERICA for criminey sakes, where freedom of religion is the FIRST order of the day. The term "Muslim" is not synonymous with "terrorist" no matter what our lying sacks-o-crap leaders say. Hitler demonized the Jews the same way, lest we forget. Contrived enemies serve an incredible monetary purpose for the bastards in power. Is that not clear YET? What does it take to open your eyes to the complete corruption of our entire value system?! Another billionaire bail-out or two? Another trillion dollar illegal invasion of a oil nation that wasn't a threat to us that puts money directly into the pocket of our VP and his oily buddies? xcmania, If you care about your future, I think you should consider rooting for Obama rather than McCain. McCain may have to instill a draft by the time you're 18 if he attacks as many countries as he says we should. He makes songs up about bombing Iran, a nation in which a quarter of the people are under 15 years old. Is that really the kind of man you want for president? Just because your parents are Republican or you're Republican doesn't mean you have to support a Republican candidate if you research and find that he's not all he says he is. I'd suggest reading this article that just came out in the Rolling Stone Magazine if you really want to know the truth about McCain. Maybe you could show it to your parents too, so they can see the truth as well.
http://www.truthout.org/100508A This article is written by a journalist, not an entertainer. Everything the man wrote is documented and attributed. Not one single time does he say, "An anonymous source said..." All the people are on record and the Navy has records too. McCain is a very troubled man and I'd think twice before I rooted for him.

I'm proud of you for taking an interest in politics, even if we don't agree about stuff. That is really awesome, but be a truth-searcher and be discriminating about who is saying what and why they're saying it. Maybe one day we'll be voting for you for president!

But was I the only one who found this from Curt J's post disturbing:

"Most of the News Media has been gobbled up by a few Neo Con Conglomerates, who in turn are owned and or operated by Israeli entities or individuals."

In other words, blame the Jews. That's what Hitler did, and it's what Stalin was in the process of doing when he keeled over from a stroke (some say he was pushed). Antisemitism knows no political boundaries. I've heard it from the left, I've heard it from the right. Has the same smell either way.

Yes, we should have received that money! We deserved that money becauase it is US who it is being stolen from! I'm glad Sarah saw that. I got mine, and wether you got yours is your problem. Unless you're one of those 2 Anchorage citizens who declined their rebate..... you should have gotten yours. Now, if you haven't... it's noones fault but your own for not paying your child support / taxes / court judgement / etc.

You're damn right she did a good job when she negotiated that gas line!!!! Damn Right! That TransCanadian is the biggest / most expensive pipeline in U.S. History. I'm guessing Obama has negotiated a billion dollar..... well... anything. It's a HUGE accomplishment to acheive something like that, and if you can't recognize that, you are far beyond naivety. Even if you don't agree with it, that doesn't discount it's monumental status.

This is such an ugly mess. I can't even believe how ugly the press has become. I don't drink, I don't smoke, I'm not a drug user, I have never been legally disiplined, or even suspended from school, but I'm sure some body could pull up some "ugly" news on me. Probably something that my dad's brother did and somehow link it back to me...... it's ridiculous!!!

And xcmania...I think it's great that you are taking an interest in politics. But please explain to us WHY you choose to be a Republican. Because your parents are Republicans or because Sarah Palin is a Republican is not a good answer. I would encourage you to seriously do your research...examine BOTH parties...before making your choice. If, after doing your homework, you still choose to be a Republican than great. But please do it for the right reasons.

Curmudgeon - I agree with you about the slam on Israelis comment. Blaming a race or religion is totally inappropriate, especially when everything is actually the fault of Republicans! Yes, I'm kidding. Some of my best friends are Republicans. :-)

For the record, I'm a non-partisan because both parties are too corrupt for me to support. I was going to write in Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul for P and VP, but now I am leaning toward Obama, only because I fear McCainiac and Palin SO much! They're positively scary when I think of them having control of the "red button". McCain might have a temper tantrum and blow up the world, and Palin might push it believing God is telling her to bring on the Rapture. If she believes invading Iraq is "God's plan", there's just no telling what she'll do in "His" name.

Doris, I do understand your point. My point is that I am scared as hell of a man that refuses to acknowledge/talk about his past affiliations. At best he obviously had very poor judgement with several people he associated with. At worst I do not want a president that has anything to do with terrorists, radicals, the mafia or God forbid one that will "pick up a little blow" because we all know he could then afford it. AKLIBBYLOVER~ In response to your video, maybe Obama would be so kind as to give Ms. Akron the $126,000. he received from Fannie/Freddie. Then she would not have to worry about money or her home anymore.

GDogg, there are already plenty of minimum wage jobs! Where the heck have you been for the last eight years? Another 159,000 jobs were lost in September, bringing the total job loss for 2008 alone to over 600,000! You have got to be delusional to say Obama could possibly be worse than what we've had to endure with this criminal administration. ELEVEN BILLION DOLLARS A MONTH is hemorrhaging out the lying war hole, with another $612 BILLION headed to the war machine two weeks ago without even a blip on the radar. Most large corporations have off-shore accounts and pay no taxes at all, while middle class people are losing their HOMES by the millions in a foreclosure surge. Bush just rushed through ANOTHER billionaire bail-out, but vetoed the seven billion dollar a year bill last year that would have given poor children health care, stating that it was just too expensive. Let's see - seven billion a year for five years is too much to spend saving children, but eleven billion a month for who the hell knows how long is just fine for blowing children up. What kind of warped value system is that?! And McCaniac wants to continue the same insanity! The man sings about bombing a nation like it's some kind of joke. Killing innocent people by the millions is NOT A JOKE! He made a joke about Janet Reno being the father of Clinton's ugly daughter when Chelsey was just a teenager. Is he really a man you want in the most powerful job in the world? What a gross piece of crap of a man. I didn't think it could get worse than Bush, but it has. McCain is still trying to win the Vietnam War, and is a woman chaser of the worst kind.

The CEO of Lehman Brothers made $17,000 an hour to run his company into the ground, then looks to YOU, the taxpayer to bail him out! You've got to be crazy to believe that cutting taxes on somebody who makes $17,000 an HOUR is a good idea, or that he'll give any of that non-taxed money to pay his workers more. Get real! The man owns a $14 million home, a vacation home in Sun Valley, Idaho, and a multimillion dollar art collection, but cut compensation on his former employees that was supposed to go until August of '09. How much money does this "rich guy" need to save while he screws everybody around him, GDogg?!

"McCain will deregulate and cut spending." Now there's a smart thing to do in the face of such an economic nightmare. Deregulation, which he's voted for nearly every time, is what got us here in the first place. He'll cut spending on the people and increase spending on war. He's made it clear that he's a "war" president like his predecessor. Yeah, America will be so much better off with Mr. Womanizing War-Monger and Rapture-Woman in the White House than two Constitutional attorneys.

The "terrorist" thing is absolute crap! The "terrorist" she's talking about is a tenured professor at the University of Chicago who committed his crimes when Obama was eight years old. When you don't have anything to say about your plan to change America for the better, you have to resort to sleazy political tactics like McCain and Palin keep doing. I hope it'll be the death of their campaign. I'm glad to see their numbers headed into the toilet. It's quite the poetic justice for the crap they're dishing out.

Phil Graham, a Republican, is the most recent orchestrator of deregulation, and Clinton didn't veto it. More Republicans have supported deregulation than Democrats, beginning with Ronald Reagan, but both parties are responsible. Deregulation has been a Republican mantra and party platform for a couple of decades now, but blaming one party for all the ills of the nation is ridiculous. Have you been listening to those hate-talk show guys again?

Obama's character? One wife, two daughters, no mistresses. Skirt-chasing McCain had an affair on his injured wife then left her AND their family for a beer heiress beauty queen. Why isn't that an issue for you? If Obama had done that, you'd slamming him even more. I'll take Obama's character over McCain's lack of it any day of the week.

Obama's tax plan will save the average American more money than McCain's will. Remember that the talk-show guys are entertainers and not journalists and don't have to tell the truth, so if you're getting your "Obama-tax" information from them, you're being mislead by people paid to keep the corporate scenario going because it means more millions in their pockets and less in yours.

In all my "ranting" I told you Obama won't spend nearly what this criminal administration has spent, but McCain sure will. You're just repeating stuff that doesn't make any sense, and I'm tired of trying to teach this GDogg new tricks. If you think cutting taxes on someone who makes $17,000 an hour is a good idea, then knock yourself out and vote for McCain. He LOVES the greedy wealthy and despises the middle class. Just look at his voting record. Or just keep parroting the same ignorant things. Whatever floats your boat.

I think a number of people here need to vary their news intake. Fox, MSNBC, the New York Times, the Washington Post - all slanted.

Try reading the candidates websites or FactCheck.com. At least check out USAToday, Business Week or NewsWeek. There is so much garbage floating around that we need a BS filter. Quoting a political operative is not the answer. You only get the part of the statement that fits what they want you to hear.

I travel a lot and I get to sit around airports reading the local papers. It is great to get passed the front page to read what is happening in this country. This week takes me to Seattle, Houston, New York and Tulsa. I can't wait to see what the real America is thinking.

Gdogg, you obviously haven't been paying attention. If your taxes are going to go up as under Obama's plan, then you are, as you put it "...one of the really wealthy who can really afford the new taxes."

Objective comparison of McCain's and Obama's plans indicate that you will receive a DECREASE in taxes under Obama unless you make at least $226,982. A modest family income between ~$37,000 and $65,000 will see a 2.4% decrease under Obama versus a 0.7% decrease under McCain.

I agree with Doris that Gdogg is also not seeing the whole picture. He argues that raised taxes on the rich translate to lower wages for the less wealthy, but Doris rightly counters that decreased taxes on the rich does not translate into increased wages for the less wealthy.

I am also surprised at the credit Gdogg gives to the Dems, who have only held a majority in the senate and the house for the last two years. In two years, they have wrecked the economy he claims! You are very mis-informed. In fact, of the last 14 years, the Repubs have held majority in the house for 12, the senate for 11, and the white house for 8. Now who has had the most opportunity to influence the current outcome?

Good for you, xcmania! It is wonderful that at eight years
old you are already politically aware. You and your generation
are what we are all working for - to have for you when you reach

    which you can thrive.

Please look closely at all sides of the political picture.
You seem very thoughtful. Take your time and look at the
whole picture before you decide to commit to a party.
You have 10 years until you can vote, and by then you will
truly be an educated and informed voter.

I am sorry there is so much that is unclear, dishonest,
and misleading in this election. It makes me embarrassed
for you having to look at our political system and have
to try to understand what the real ideas are, and to have to
watch grown people be mean and hostile to each other
rather than just say what they believe so that we can decide
whose ideas and plans might be the best for us all.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

Doris, you need to do your homework before spouting off your hatred and false accusations.

The reason Bush vetoed the child health care bill was because it would have provided free, taxpayer-funded health care for children of countless families who already have private health care insurance. It was NOT something that would have helped children who did not already have health care. Here in Alaska, we have families making in excess of $100,000 a year who receive Denali Kid Care. Bush was holding out for a bill that would help those who REALLY need it.

The catty attacks she is launching against Obama are representing a new low in politics. Ayers should take her on for slander. He was acquitted of all charges. Dont the Neo Cons accept the American Justice System? And as a retired Vietnam Air Force Flier, I support all those that forced an end to the war in Vietnam, that Killed 58000 of my comrades, all supported by the lies coming out of the Pentagon, and Henry Kissingers mouth. The ones who fought against the Vietnam war at home, are true patriots. Our founding fathers urged us to take up arms against corrupt leaders. "We are the only Alaskan political party that is entirely comprised of Alaskans, staffed by Alaskans and financed by Alaskans. We are not affiliated with any political party with a similiar sounding name in other parts of the United States.

The continual growth of membership of the Alaskan Independence Party has created one of the largest third parties in the United states. We used to be the largest, so we are trying harder to regain that position. Join us as we lead Alaska to the prosperity and freedom that Alaskans expect, deserve and should enjoy.

The AIP is Proud to support Bob Bird for the Senate of the United States. For more information on Mr. Bird, please visit his web site. We have also endorsed the Presidential candidacy of the Constitution Party, Charles Baldwin.

The Alaskan Independence Party can be summed up in just two words:

    ALASKA FIRST!

Until we as Alaskans receive our Ultimate Goal, the AIP will continue to strive to make Alaska a better place to live with less government interference in our everyday lives.
The Alaskan Independence Party's goal is the vote we were entitled to in 1958, one choice from among the following four alternatives:
    1) Remain a Territory.
    2) Become a separate and Independent Nation.
    3) Accept Commonwealth status.
    4) Become a State.
The call for this vote is in furtherance of the dream of the Alaskan Independence Party's founding father, Joe Vogler, which was for Alaskans to achieve independence under a minimal government, fully responsive to the people, promoting a peaceful and lawful means of resolving differences."

    http://www.akip.org/

This is considered a conservative "Constitution Party" Where is that they talked about bombing anything in the US or abroad for that matter..

    Again on Ayers:
”I don’t regret setting bombs,” Bill Ayers said. ”I feel we didn’t do enough.”

He still has tattooed on his neck the rainbow-and-lightning Weathermen logo that appeared on letters taking responsibility for bombings.

Mr. Ayers, who in 1970 was said to have summed up the Weatherman philosophy as: ”Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, kill your parents, that’s where it’s really at,” is today distinguished professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago

So, would Mr. Ayers do it all again, he is asked? ”I don’t want to discount the possibility,” he said."

this was taken directly from the New York times, also let me remind you that OJ to, was aquitted!

Final note, hasn't it been quoted from both Palin and McCain that they would like to step back and promote less Government? It is Obama that is pushing for a democracy and turning the US into a welfare country!

    Pixyfae, Take a powder!
Mr. Ayers, who in 1970 was said to have summed up the Weatherman philosophy as:....is a bald faced lie, and hearsay that is repeated over and over by Obama Haters. Beside that, let the record reflect, that while John Sydney McCain III, was a prisoner of war in Vietnam, he violated the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) by signing several documents the Vietcong presented him with, that condemned the USA a a "Imperialist Nation", a 3 page documents admitting warcrimes and accusing american soldiers of committing war crimes. Of 434 US POW's, 4 signed documents to that effect, 430 did not. What Ayers did has absolutely no connection to Obama, except for the slanderous ones made up by the desperate right. By choosing Palin, he lost the election, as sure as Gore lost when he selected Lieberman. As far as the AIP is concerned, I have no issues with their desire at the time to remain a territory, however there was a referendum, defective as it was in many ways, that chose Statehood. There were more People in Hawaii opposed to Statehood, but for better reasons. Their Island nation was stolen by Bible toting colonialists, that considered Sugar to be King, and some of those original Robber Preachers Families still own a huge amount of stolen land in Hawaii. Alaska on the other hand was purchased from Russia, in a legal transaction, from Russia, whose empire owned it for a long time, without ever considering the native populations right to own their own land.(They were nomadic people) The whites that came to Alaska, for the most part came here to Mine Gold, and get rich. I do not deny the Pioneers that worked hard to get where they ended up, their right to self determination, but the hand has been dealt, and the Washington Government will NEVER relinquish the Military and strategic advantages as well as the mineral wealth that is Alaska. Nunavut is waiting for those that want an independent Native State. But I don't think there are many Native Alaskans in the AIP.
