ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- A 24-year-old man has been sentenced in the death of another motorist in Anchorage caused when he crashed a stolen truck during a police chase.

Kristopher Felber says it was a bad decision when he got drunk and stoned that morning in January 2006 when he stole the truck and refused to stop even when officers boxed in his vehicle and opened fire.

Crashing the truck took the life of 35-year-old Stephen Strain, a married father of three.

Felber was sentenced Friday to 66 years in prison.

He pleaded guilty to the crimes a year ago.

After prosecutors made clear their intent to seek the maximum sentence, however, Felber tried to withdraw from the deal. He claimed his former attorney had coerced him.

The effort to get out of the plea agreement was denied.
