Not independent

To the editor:

When you publish a Community Perspective article, it would be in your best interest to make sure that the person writing it is telling the truth about who and what he is. In Gordon Haber’s article in your paper (March 16) he describes himself as an “independent wildlife scientist.”

Nothing could be further from the truth. Over the years he has done what must be tens of thousands of dollars worth of work for groups like Friends of Animals! That’s being independent?

Also, he has harassed law-abiding trappers to the point where they sued him and won large judgments against him. I wonder who paid those off?

Mr. Haber is not an independent anything and if you allow him to pass himself off as one, then your credibility will be as low as his!

Perhaps he is independent because he thinks for himself, is self-employed, does not still live with his parents, or is able to fix his own plumbing. He described himself as independent. Did he use the word "impartial"? That should be the word that gets you mad.

Way to be a word lawyer there, Imalwaysleft! ;)

The fact is that no one is without their own baises. Every article has an agenda, and, I find that I agree with few of them, especially the ones that are touted as being a "community perspective".

there are people who believe in their cause so much they are willing to commit immoral acts to accomplish their goals. these people are extremists. if this person is willing to destroy private property (trappers traps), and think it is right to accomplish his ends, why wouldn't lying about who is be such a stretch?

Gordon Haber, the name says it all. He should have been....well, I will not go there, but stealing someones traps from a trapline is a very serious offense, he is a very lucky man.
