Brian Hughes nabs top honors at Pacific International Trap Association Alaska State Shoot

Brian “Stubby” Hughes of Fairbanks captured the High All Around trophy and won the Alaska Doubles Championship as the Pacific International Trap Association Alaska State Shoot came to an end Sunday afternoon at the Fairbanks Trap Club.

Hughes won a four-man shutoff to claim the state doubles title and posted a score of 380 out of 400 to claim the All Around title, which included the three state championship events held on Saturday and Sunday.

Robert Burg won the state singles crown on Saturday with a score of 196 out of 200. Cliff Calkins took home the state handicap championship on Sunday with a score of 96-100.

Jim Fleming of Eagle River was the High Overall Champion with a scored of 938 out of 1,000. Hughes finished second with a 929.

Other High All Around winners were: Sasha Ruesch, Lady; Joe Hughes, Junior; Wayne Bertholl, Veteran; Joe Davis, Senior Veteran; Ted Rajkowski, Non Resident; Brian and Joe Hughes, Parent/Child.

Other High Overall Winners were: Jim Trujillo, Class AA; Jared Mattson, A; Tom Renwick, B; Deborah Hewitt, C; Larry Durand, D; Sasha Ruesch, Lady; Joe Hughes, Junior; Wayne Bertholl, Veteran; Jay Davis, Senior Veteran; and Ted Rajkowski, Non Resident.
