Police, school practice 'worst-case scenario' at training

At least eight people are killed in the ensuing chaos as police and emergency responders converge on the school to evacuate staff and students.
SWAT teams begin the search for the gunmen as Fairbanks police officer Bruce Barnett carries one injured and bloody student out of the school on his shoulders.
This was the scene Tuesday afternoon at Lathrop as the Fairbanks police department in cooperation with multiple other law enforcement agencies and the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District carried out an “active shooter exercise,” to test their response in case such an attack were to happen in the Interior.
“We practice the worst-case scenario and hope it never happens,” said Todd Schlumbohm, the school district safety liaison.
On Tuesday, the “worst-case scenario” included the shooters taking hostages and setting up explosive devices in the building.
Though far from the Lower 48 where other school shootings have gained notoriety in recent years, the Interior isn’t immune from school violence.
In April 2006, six North Pole Middle School students were arrested on suspicion of a plot to kill classmates and teachers.
Police were able to foil the plot after a parent was tipped off, but the plot came within days of being enacted.
Other agencies participating in the exercise included the Alaska State Troopers and the North Pole, Fort Wainwright, Eielson and Fairbanks International Airport police departments.
The Fairbanks Fire Department was also at the school.
Such exercises are useful in training for any event with a lot of casualties, said Fairbanks Fire Department Capt. Scott Raygor.
“Whether it’s a school bus crash, plane crash or school shooting, all mass casualty events are handled the same way,” he said.

Good training. I hope the school employees learned what to do (and not to do) in that type of situation. Hopefully what they learned will never be put to the test.
About a year ago, in Michigan, i believe, there was a similar drill where the students nor teachers were informed beforehand. The Principle did know. The students were suddenly greeted with black-masked government thugs armed with mp5's. Students were cussed at and told to get down. In a similar case, on video, The government thugs were ripping backpacks away from unsuspecting students. Students were deficating themselves in these jr. high schools because they were so scared.
This is not about training for a "terrorist attack". This is about training kids to be slaves; to live in absolute fear of their government masters, to submit. Fairbanks cops whom I have met, seem like decent people. But Police training today is to brainwash cops into thinking they are our masters. It is done incrementally. Look at some of the places in the lower 48 where cops ask for your ID at random. In Colorado and several other states, checkpoints have been setup where drivers' blood and saliva are collected.
Notice how there is always an excuse to carry out tyranny. Reagan one said "If we loose freedom here, there is no place left to go". Our 4th president, James Madison said "If tyranny and oppression ever come to this land, it will be under the guise of fighting a foreign enemy".
Do you want this in Alaska? No? Then stop this behavior NOW! Tell the Mayor to stop this before it gets anymore out of hand. Take your kids out of the government training camps now.
How Many of you know what the definition of "terrorism" is in the Patriot Act? Well, here it is:
EC. 802. DEFINITION OF DOMESTIC TERRORISM.
(a) DOMESTIC TERRORISM DEFINED- Section 2331 of title 18, United States Code, is amended--
(1) in paragraph (1)(B)(iii), by striking `by assassination or kidnapping' and inserting `by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping';
(2) in paragraph (3), by striking `and';
(3) in paragraph (4), by striking the period at the end and inserting `; and'; and
(4) by adding at the end the following:
`(5) the term `domestic terrorism' means activities that--
`(A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State;
`(B) appear to be intended--
`(i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
`(ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or
`(iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and
`(C) occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States.'.
(b) CONFORMING AMENDMENT- Section 3077(1) of title 18, United States Code, is amended to read as follows:
`(1) `act of terrorism' means an act of domestic or international terrorism as defined in section 2331;'.
Do you see that this includes anyone of us who may have j-walked or anyone with a DUI or anyone who ran a stop sign. In fact, under subsection B, Jesus could be a terrorist. We are all terrorists by the criminal government's own definition. This is what happened to Germany under Hitler's "Enabling Act".

Everyone involved was there on a voluntary basis, I do not see how this compared to the incident described in MI.
Take your God Talk elsewhere, this kind of preparation is important.
hambone....you obviously know very little about what went on in North Pole. It was a serious event and would have taken place everything was set up. Thank God it didnt happen.
Orion, really? The situation in MI hardly compares to the drills the FNSBSD does. These drills are mild, and do not involve the students.
But I have a question for you, have you ever been in an emergency situation at a school? One that requires law enforcement to come in AND evacuate the school? I have, its among the most terrifying things I have gone through. Soon after Columbine the schools in South Central Alaska went through a rash of Bomb Treats, unfortunately my high school was among those threatened.
I would rather the teachers and staff go through this training than go into these situations unprepared. This training isn't to make our students into sheep, or have them blindly follow what a cop tells them. Its actually to keep them safe during the most dangerous situations.

Sounds like the only "brainwashing" that has happened is to orion700. As a police officer who has participated in this exact training at a different department, it is vital to have. It allows the officers to quickly, and tactically neutralize the situation to prevent further fatalities of innocent bystanders. Good for the police agencies and school district to see the need for this training and be better prepared in case, God forbid, it ever became a reality...Don't worry orion700, you should be safe in your bunker, hiding from the "government thugs."
This was a training for law enforcement. They trained for 7 days prior to yeasterday's activities. The only school officials that were involved were some teachers who acted as volunteer victims and the office staff who actually did perform duties that would normally occur during a "shooter incident". Don't make this out to be something that the school was practicing for themselves. Again, this was intended for law enforcement training......so they can take over the world. Buahahaha
My son was one of the participants. He was with his boy scout troops. He was actually the one in the picture that the swat guy was carrying out of the school. It didn't sound like he learned anything other than that the cops would probably sweep the school 3 times before recovering those hiding in dark bathrooms. He said he was there for about 2 hours. I don't think this was to teach the police how to take over and abuse our community members. Or else my son would have had other news to bring home from the event. A healthy level of autonomy is necessary in the world, but to think that ALL cops are bad, is like saying all religious people are good, but I do recall reading articals about "bad" preists "terrorizing" small boys.
