Dianna Rupp has come a long way artistically from doodling on scraps of paper. She has won several awards and had her work shown at local art shows.
Her teacher, Debby Thurman, said the Joy sixth grader is drawing impressive work all of the time.
“Given the opportunity, Dianna excells at art lessons, Thurmand said. “She is always seeming to become better and more advanced as each day goes by.”
In class, Thurman said no matter what the media is, Rupp brings fantastic detail and expressions to her work. The art teacher notes Rupp likes to draw anime characters but can produce equally impressive work in all areas.
Rupp said her sisters were also award-winning artists as well.
“I think it must run in the family,” Rupp said.
Her other hobbies also involve the arts. Rupp said she enjoys painting, Web page design and playing the cello.
In the future Rupp said she wants to be either a veterinarian or a forensic scientist but she would like to keep art in her life.
She dreams of starting her own Japanese comic book series but would be happy just to have her work displayed anywhere others could look at it.
Thurman said Rupp has an eye for details, shading and overall presentation.
She also has an ability to express her creativity in a variety of ways.
“I guess what I like about drawing is that I can express myself freely with it and that makes me want to keep doing it,” Rupp said.
