Alaska Buddhist Center
Alaska Buddhist Center — Rimay Tenzin Ling meets at the Unitarian Church, 4448 Pikes Landing Road, for Tibetan Buddhist studies and meditation. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for set-up and silent meditation until opening of the service.
Monday’s study session is from 6:15-7:30 p.m. and continues with a series of teachings by the Dalai Lama, with translation by Dr. Thupten Jinpa, on “Transforming the Mind.”
Wednesday, doors open at 5:30 and directed meditation practice is from 6:30-8 p.m. On alternate Wednesdays the group engages in the practice of Tong Len, (“exchange meditation,”) or on the Heart Sutra, contemplating “emptiness,” or the conceptual nature of experience.
