Lance Mackey sits with one of his dogs, Handsome, after winning the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race early Wednesdayy, March 12, 2008, in Nome.

ANCHORAGE -- He's gained fame as a sled dog race champion, but Lance Mackey seems to enjoy getting behind the wheel almost as much as he likes mushing behind a team of huskies.

Mackey was ecstatic as he drove off in a bright blue Dodge Charger, part of his winnings from this year's 1,100-mile Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.

The repeat champ bypassed the traditional pickup given by an Anchorage car dealership to the race winner.

He says the family has enough trucks; in fact he wound up giving the prize pickup he got for winning his first Iditarod in 2007 to his wife.

And that's why this year, he opted for the muscle car.

Just before rolling out into traffic, he quipped: "It's all mine. How cool is that?"

Good choice Lance. Too bad it's not a '69 Charger with a 440

Too bad he could not get ahold of a Challenger.

Yeah, those new Challengers are REALLY pretty & I am generally anti-Dodge.
Enjoy the ride Lance, we'll be looking for ya!
