FAIRBANKS — The Alaska Nanooks will kick off their final season in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association on Saturday with the inaugural Fan Fest and Blue/Gold game.
The Fan Fest is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. in the Patty Center lobby and the gym, with the Blue/Gold game following at 7 p.m. in the ice arena.
Admission is free and the event is open to the public. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the Nanooks coaches and players and there will be activities, food and prizes for those in attendance.
Radio disc jockey VMAXX will be playing music throughout the event and fans will have the opportunity to participate in activities hosted by a variety event booths provided by a variety of Fairbanks businesses and sponsors.
The event will feature a Kid’s Corner with several hockey activities, free cotton candy and popcorn and a bounce house. Featured activities include Box Hockey and the Goalie Experience.
Fans are encouraged to bring their skates to test their skills on AK Performance synthetic ice sheet during the Fan Fest and for a Skate with the Nanooks following the Blue/Gold game.
After the Skate With The Nanooks, the Face-Off Club will host a postgame barbecue with free hot dogs, chips, drinks and dessert.
Season ticket packages for the upcoming season will be available from 3-6 p.m. Saturday at the athletic ticket office in the Patty Center lobby, as well as from 6-8 p.m. at the Blue/Gold game.
The Face-Off Club will be hosting a cash raffle with the drawing scheduled for 6 p.m.

Fairbanks Office of Risk Management will sponsor a Safety Block Party from 5-8 p.m.

Hall of Fame
The Nanooks will hold their annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Wood Center Ballroom.
This year’s inductees are John Estle, cross country and Nordic ski coach from 1982-1990; Ellen Hannan, women’s basketball from 1977-1981; Heather Harrison, volleyball, 1990-1991; and Pavla Havlova, women’s cross country and Nordic skiing from 2005-2006.
