ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A crash with a moose calf has severely injured a Wasilla motorcycle driver.

Alaska State Troopers say 38-year-old John William Wysong was driving just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday on Pond Lilly Street when the calf ran onto the road.

Wysong was not wearing a helmet. He was flown to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage with life-threatening injuries.

KTUU-TV (http://bit.ly/Tkafyj) reports the crash was at least the fourth between moose and motorcycles this year. Two drivers were fatally injured - 57-year-old Philip Dubourg of Connecticut on July 15 near Delta Junction and 36-year-old Michael Carlyle of Wasilla on Aug. 7 outside the city.

Another Wasilla man, 45-year-old Charles G. Moses, was seriously injured July 23 when he hit a moose calf near Mile 122 Parks Highway.
