1.7 million pink salmon landed in southeast Alaska fishery

KETCHIKAN, Alaska - Commercial fishermen hauled in 1.7 million pink salmon in an Alaska fishing district, by far the largest catch of any district open in Southeast Alaska during this week to date.

The Ketchikan Daily News reports ( http://bit.ly/PEPHhy ) that District 4 catches raise the overall harvest of pink salmon in Southeast Alaska to 14.9 million fish.

The commercial purse seine fishery will continue with a series of openings beginning on Saturday.
