ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A man charged with killing and kidnapping an Anchorage barista is under investigation in other matters, according to his lawyers.
The Anchorage Daily News reports (http://is.gd/UWdu93) the attorneys for Israel Keyes complained in documents filed in federal court that prosecutors have repeatedly interviewed Keyes against their objections.
The court-appointed defense attorneys also said they understand Keyes is being investigated in other matters, but they haven't been informed of the investigations or the allegations against Keyes and can't properly advise him.
Prosecutors and defense attorneys declined further comment, and no new charges have been filed against Keyes.
Keyes is charged with kidnapping, resulting in 18-year-old Samantha Koenig's death. Koenig was abducted Feb. 1 from the Anchorage coffee stand where she worked. Her body was recovered April 2 from a lake.
