To the editor:
We actors are needy folk. We need writers to create the words we speak, directors to guide our performance and technical geniuses to make the world around us so we have the space to create our art. But most of all, we need a certain amount of affirmation and recognition from the audiences.
I was heartily disappointed this morning when I opened the Latitude 65 and saw no review for the Theatre UAF show “The Flu Season.” I am a recent graduate of the theater program, and to me, the lack of a review said the local newspaper cared a great deal more for the movie reviews (that I can get off any website or gossip magazine) than recognizing and affirming local art and artists.
The actors and technical crew have worked very hard to present a very evanescent piece of art, and to have that ignored by the local paper is a slap in the face. Please make more of an effort to showcase the wonderful local talent we have on display.
