You know winter is here when the Dog goes to bed. And by Dog, we mean the Howling Dog Saloon in Fox.

The Howling Dog prides itself on offering live music every weekend in the summer, and it offers a range of everything from rock, blues and bluegrass to touring bands and local favorites who all clamor to play at the locally famous saloon.

“We had a great summer and made a lot of people happy,” owner Ralph Glasgow said.

Time has come though for its winter shutdown but not without one last hurrah.

This weekend, the Dog is offering great drink specials to help blow the kegs — $1 Bud drafts, $2 all other drafts, $3 Guinness, $5 Bacardi and Coke and $6.50 Jager bombs.

Saturday you can get in on the music action by grabbing your guitar and joining Mike Stackhouse on stage. Starting at 8 p.m., he’s hosting the Open Invitation Musician’s Acoustic Jam session.

The last night of season is Monday, when you’re invited out to catch some Monday night football.

The Howling Dog Saloon is located at 10.5 Mile Old Steese Highway. You can reach the Dog at 456-4695
