Even if you’re not a trapper, you might want to think about attending the Alaska Trappers Association’s monthly meeting on Tuesday if you own a snowmachine

Longtime Fairbanks trapper and outdoorsman Jim Masek will be the guest speaker and the title of his talk,“Snowmachines and Water Don’t Mix,” says it all. Masek will address several aspects of this age-old problem, including:

• How to “read” ice to avoid overflow and open water.

• How to extract a snow-go stuck in overflow.

• How to extract a snow-go that has gone through ice into water.

• The first five things to do to a snow-go after it has been submerged.

The meeting will be held at the Mushers Hall on Farmers Loop beginning at 7 p.m.
