To the editor:

I’m tired of all this $2 billion complaining. If Parnell and my legislators Coghill, Kelly and Wilson think reducing the oil taxes is the right thing to do, then I trust them on it.

We need to get that oil out of the ground now before it goes bad. We owe it to our friends in Big Oil to make sure they stay as profitable as possible. As their ads show us, it is their oil and we need to help them pump it out and sell it, even if we need to pay them to do it.

Right now, Alaska’s Clear and Equitable Share tax structure demands that the oil companies pay more in taxes when the price of oil goes up. What a stupid thing, making someone pay more when the price goes up!

And speaking of that, I could fill my truck up the other day for not much more than $100. A darn good deal, in my opinion.

I say we make nice to the oil companies, so they’ll stay happy. We want them to stay in Alaska and not walk away from all that oil up there on the North Slope.

Go to if you want to hear more.
