Juneau federal attorney gets Justice Department award

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - An assistant U.S. attorney based in Juneau is receiving a national award.

The U.S. attorney's office in Anchorage says in a release that Jack S. Schmidt will receive the Attorney General's Award for Outstanding Contributions by a New Employee of the Department of Justice.

Schmidt will be recognized at a ceremony Oct. 17 in Washington, D.C.

Schmidt was the first assistant U.S. attorney assigned to the new Juneau office in 2009.
