BETHEL, Alaska - Two people reportedly have died in less than a week in cold weather and unheated homes in Bethel, Alaska.

KTUU-TV reports that police say an elderly woman was found unresponsive Friday in an unheated home. She was not identified pending notification of relatives.

KYUK reports that a man identified as Norbert Kashatok was pronounced dead at a Bethel hospital early Tuesday morning.

Authorities say friends found him unresponsive and lying on the floor about 2 a.m. Tuesday, when it was 7 degrees below zero. Responding medics couldn't find a pulse. They began CPR and took him to the hospital.

Officials say he and possibly others were attempting to live in the home even though it didn't have heat.
