FAIRBANKS - Quick, give us your best (or worst) holiday haikus.

How hard can it be to write three lines consisting five, seven, and then five syllables?

Send us your best effort (no more than two person, please) by the end of Wednesday, Dec. 21. We’ll publish some or all of them on this page on Saturday, Dec. 24. That should make

for some fun Christmas Eve reading.

Need some inspiration? Here are some suggestions from some of our Twitter followers:

“@Chillygal: Re haiku theme: red long johns.”

“@mbif: Reindeer!”

“@wesleyschaefer: 21st century twitter style, haiku in 140 characters or less.”

We’ll put the best ones in a pot, pull one out and award that person

a small gift — a $25 Visa gift card.

More importantly, the winner will be able to carry the title of 2011 Holiday Haiku King (or Queen).

Send your haikus to ourtown@newsminer.com or drop them off at 200 N. Cushman St.
