A Joan Arend Kickbush original painting from 1972 titled "Winter Fun" donated by the Monroe Foundation and valued at $1,200 on display in preparation for this weekend's HIPOW Auction Wednesday afternoon, October 9, 2013 at the Catholic Schools of Fairbanks. The non-profit Monroe Foundation, Inc. hosts the annual fundraiser, an abbreviation for Happiness in Paying Our Way, now in it's 44th year. "It's very special to be a part of," Joan Stepovich, who is co-chairing this year's auction with her husband Chris and Jim and Patty Walter, said of the two-day event, which raises about $700,000 for the schools. Friday night's auction, both silent and outcry, is Family Night and is open and free to the public from 5-10pm. Saturday's event is a formal dinner with both silent and outcry auctions.
