FAIRBANKS - The Help-Portrait project is coming to Fairbanks on Dec. 8. Local photographers in the global project will provide cancer survivors with free family portraits for the holidays.

The event is scheduled for noon to 3 p.m. at University Community Presbyterian Church, located at 3510 College Road.

Call 699-2357 to make a required reservation. The deadline is Nov. 30.

The Help-Portrait website (help-portrait.com) says the project “is a global movement of photographers using their time, gear and expertise to give back to those in need.”

The website says 169,523 portraits have been given by 15,558 photographers aided by 21,447 volunteers in 1,520 locations in 56 countries.

Local photographers in last year’s Help-Portrait event provided free portraits to homeless families living in shelters.
