To the editor:
As a lifelong Republican, a Christian, and as a social and fiscal conservative, I find myself not particularly pleased with many local GOP candidates this election season.
Under the leadership of Alaska GOP Chairman Randy Reudrich, as well as at the behest of Gov. Parnell, partisan members of the GOP are so wildly missing the mark that they’re forcing many Republicans to vote for their opponents simply to put a stop to the ludicrous oil tax giveaway.
Traditionally, I vote primarily for GOP candidates, but I feel completely betrayed this election cycle. I refuse to vote for any politician who agrees to sign a political party “pledge card” and who refuses to respect and represent the citizen voters who elect them.
As such, with the exception of Click Bishop, I am supporting and voting for primarily local Democrats this election cycle. Let’s hope after this election is over that the GOP gets its act together and gets back to representing the people of this state, not their wealthy oil company political donors and their subcontractors.
