ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A Good Samaritan vessel rescued three fishermen after their boat sank in Southeast Thursday night.
The Coast Guard in a release says the crewmen were on the 42-foot trawler Equity, which hit a rock and sank southwest of Heceta Island, about 30 miles northwest of Klawock. The crew issued a distress signal, put on survival suits and got into a life boat.
A Coast Guard helicopter was dispatched from Sitka, and directed the Good Samaritan vessel High Pockets to the crew, who were rescued and delivered to Klawock.
The Coast says the Equity was reportedly carrying 450 gallons of diesel fuel. There have been no reports of pollution.
