SOLDOTNA, Alaska - A fund has been established after a state Republican party official lost her home to a fire.

The Kasilof home belonging to Debbie and Jack Brown was declared a total loss after a fire last week. Debbie Brown is the incoming vice chair of the Republican Party of Alaska.

KSRM reports ( donations can be given to the "Brown's Family Fund" through the Bridges Community Resource Network in Soldotna or at Wells Fargo branches in Kenai or Soldotna.

The cause of the Oct. 24 fire remains under investigation. However, investigators are looking at a towel that had been warmed up in a microwave after a shower and then put on a wooden deck as a possible ignition source.
