Free tutoring offered for military kids

FAIRBANKS — An online tutoring program with free access for military dependents in grades K-12 in Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, Navy, National Guard and Reserve families is now available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Students are able to work one-to-one in a secure online classroom with expert tutors in all core subjects. No appointment is needed.

Pam Brehm, Tutor.com’s military outreach director, will be in the Interior Monday through Wednesday to offer presentations and demonstrations on the online program at Eielson Air Force Base, Fort Greely and Fort Wainwright.

Tutor.com, funded by the Department of Defense, also is available to many adult service members and their spouses/adult dependents for free college and resume help. Military families can go to www.tutor.com/

military/eligibility to check program eligibility.

Tutor.com presentations will be held at the following times and locations:

Monday: 2-2:45 p.m., Air National Guard service members at 168th Wing, Eielson Air Force Base; 3-5 p.m., all military families, youth at Eielson Youth Center; 6-8:30 p.m., Alaska National Guard Family Readiness Group members, all military families at Fairbanks Armory.

Tuesday: 9-11:30 a.m., Tots Reading Group, National Guard families at Fairbanks Armory; 5:30-8:30 p.m., National Guard Family Readiness Group members, all military families at Fort Greely.

Wednesday: 9-11:30 a.m., Tots Reading Group, National Guard families at Fort Greely; 2:30-5:30 p.m., all military families, youth at Fort Wainwright Youth Center.
