FAIRBANKS — All four Interior high school football teams involved in the state playoffs will play their opening-round games on Saturday, according to the Alaska School Activities Association website.
In the large schools quarterfinals, the North Pole Patriots, the second seed from the Railbelt Conference, will entertain the West Anchorage Eagles, the third seed from the Cook Inlet Conference, at 7 p.m. at Patriot Pride Field.
The West Valley Wolfpack, No. 3 in the Railbelt, will take on CIC runner-up South Anchorage at 7 p.m. at Dimond High School in Anchorage.
Earlier Saturday, at
2 p.m., CIC champion Service will play Juneau-Douglas, the Railbelt’s No. 4 team, also at Dimond.
Railbelt champion Palmer will host CIC No. 4 East Anchorage, but the details of when the game will take place won’t be known until later today.
In the small schools semifinals (Greatland Conference teams) Eielson entertains Barrow at 1 p.m. Saturday at Buck Nystrom Field on Eielson Air Force Base, while Monroe Catholic will play at Nikiski in an 11 a.m. contest.
In the medium schools semifinals, Homer is at Thunder Mountain at 7 p.m. Friday and Kodiak plays at Soldotna Saturday afternoon.
The medium and small schools title games will be played Oct. 12-13 along with the large schools semifinals. All of those games will be played at Chugiak High School.
The large schools championship game also will be played at Chugiak on Oct. 20.
