If there is one fly that has caught every fish there is in Alaska, it is the Dolly (Dalia) Lama Fly, according to Jason Rivers at Big Ray’s Fly Shop in Fairbanks. The fly is an articulated pattern that has a heavy cone head, so no split shot is needed. It can be fished off a floating line with a 7- to 9-foot leader. For really deep holes, fish off a sinktip.
