To the editor:
Fairbanks has a great little spot where magic happens. Tonight at the Riverfront Theatre, the Fairbanks Drama Association presented “Charlotte’s Web,” directed by Valinda Taylor. It was a flawless opening night performed in front of a full house.
The set is fairly simple, as are the costumes. The adaptations, using people versus animals, could not be better. The cast moved the play along at a great pace, and the audience was invested emotionally in the performance.
Many children were in the house watching this childhood classic. Not once did an actor get thrown off by a baby squeal or an audience chuckle. You must be thinking these were seasoned actors. Well, that beloved spider Charlotte was played by a local high school senior. The sweet and loving Fern and hilarious Templeton were both cast by seventh graders.
This was a large cast of amazing young children and young adults. The actors were seasoned beyond their years and gave their heart and soul. It was clear to see the chemistry among the group.
It was a joy to watch these young actors from within our community embrace the arts and put on such an outstanding performance.
