FAIRBANKS — A quick response by the North Star Volunteer and Fort Wainwright fire departments helped prevent a garage fire from spreading to a home on Loose Moose Loop off Badger Road early Thursday morning.

Firefighters were on scene within four minutes of the 2:10 a.m. call and arrived to find fire showing on the right side of a 30-foot-by-40-foot, two-story, wood-framed structure, North Star Chief Jeff Tucker said. The fire was coming from an attached garage with a bedroom over it, he said.

Firefighters extended a hose line and contained the fire to the garage side of the structure and some small objects in the yard of the home near the garage, according to a report posted on North Star’s Facebook page Saturday.

There was minimal damage to the inside of the garage, and no injuries were reported.
