The northern pike bag and possession limit in the Minto Flats area will be two pike this summer under an emergency order issued this week. Only one of the fish can be larger than 30 inches.

Under the state’s Minto Flats Northern Pike Management Plant, the sport fishing bag limit is lowered when the winter subsistence harvest exceeds 750 fish. This year the harvest was 820 fish, according to an announcement from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

The restriction effects the season from June 1 to Oct. 14 in all lakes and flowing waters of the Minto Flats area.
