Come meet fellow paddlers in the Fairbanks area at the Fairbanks Paddlers Annual Meeting and potluck, which will take place at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at Unitarian Universalist Church on Pikes Landing Road. The event is free and open to all ages.

After doors open at 6:30 p.m. there will be a gear swap — visitors are encouraged to bring unused boating or camping gear to swap or sell to other paddlers. A potluck dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Roast turkey will be provided, and those attending are asked to bring a dish. A short business meeting will occur at 7:30 p.m. and Roman Dial will present “Four Decades of Packrafting: A Personal View” at 8 p.m. Dial was one of a small group of boaters to take packrafting very seriously early on and to really test what this new kind of craft could do.
