The collaborative art-science exhibit, “In a Time of Change: Microbial Worlds,” is returning to the University of Alaska Fairbanks for a second summer in the UAF Art Department gallery.
The university will host a free opening reception for the exhibit from 4-7 p.m. Friday in the gallery, located off the Regents’ Great Hall. The reception will include a literary reading with Debbie Moderow and Susan Campbell and a panel discussion with artists and organizers. The reading and panel discussion will begin at 4:30 p.m.
The exhibit includes work from 14 artists and writers, who worked with scientists on pieces inspired by the world of microscopic organisms. Mary Beth Leigh, associate professor of microbiology, directed the project with support from the National Science Foundation, the Bonanza Creek Long Term Ecological Research site, Toolik Field Station and UAF.
The exhibit will remain on display at UAF through July 31.
