The holidays are fast approaching and that means it’s the most wonderful time of the year. The Fairbanks Symphony Association and Design Alaska present two separate concert performances of their most popular production of the year, The Design Alaska Holiday Concert, at 3 p.m. Dec. 7 and 4 p.m. Dec. 8, both in Davis Concert Hall on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus.

The concerts, conducted by Eduard Zilberkant, will feature the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra and Chorus along with the Northland Youth Choir performing popular musical selections to help get you in the holiday spirit. UA President Jim Johnsen will perform a reading of the famous Christmas poem “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” and Santa Claus will make an appearance during the concert as well.

The concerts include a number of new arrangements this year and conclude with the traditional audience sing-along.

The Holiday Market Café, filled with desserts, will be open for business at both concerts, and Santa will be available for you to take a “Selfie with Santa” for your own personal holiday greetings.

At the Sunday performance only, the Symphony Association is also holding its annual silent auction fundraiser. All auction items have been donated to and for the benefit of the organization. For a preview listing of the items up for auction, visit www.auctria.com/fsoholidaymarket.
