FAIRBANKS — Trips to Fairbanks International Airport these days can include long lines, uncomfortable encounters with security personnel and a whole lot of waiting. But away from the main terminal, there’s a lot more going on, and, on Saturday, residents can get a taste of an aviation world that’s just plane fun.
Fairbanks Aviation Day is an annual event that lets the public have a peek behind the scenes at the airport and to learn how aviation works, said Tom George, regional manager with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. The event is organized by the Airport Operators Council, a group of businesses and organizations that work together on airport-related activities.
