FAIRBANKS — Police have arrested a suspect in a shooting that wounded two people at a Hamilton Acres apartment Saturday afternoon, according to Fairbanks police.

Christian A. Williams, 18, has been arrested on a first-degree felony assault charge, police said. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

About 4:15 p.m. Saturday, police received a report of gunshots at 29 Glacier Ave., No. 1, a unit in a small 1 1/2-story apartment building, said Sgt. Bruce Barnett, with the Fairbanks police department. One victim, identified Sunday as Devante R. Woods, 19, was shot in the abdomen and taken to the intensive care unit at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. The other victim, Olajahwon R. Quint, 20, was hit in the right arm and required surgery.

The suspected shooter ran into the woods behind the apartment and was detained without incident after police set up a perimeter, Barnett said.
