Fairbanks man dies in snowmachine crash near Kotzebue

FAIRBANKS — A Fairbanks man crashed outside of Kotzebue on a snowmachine and died at the scene, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Peter Kazenoff, 41, was snowmachining along the Nakolik River Thursday and was involved in a crash. Paramedics from Kotzebue flew to the scene at about 4 p.m. and attempted advanced CPR to no avail.

Kazenoff’s body was flown to Kotzebue and then to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage.

His next of kin have been notified.
