FAIRBANKS — Fairbanks defense attorney Susan Carney is one of six candidates nominated by the Alaska Judicial Council for a seat on the Alaska Court of Appeals.
Gov. Sean Parnell has 45 day to choose a new judge among the nominees to fill the vacancy left by retiring Chief Judge Robert Coats.
Carney is now a supervising attorney at the Office of Public Advocacy. The other candidates are Anchorage public defender Majorie Allard, Anchorage Solicitor General of Criminal Affairs Doug Kossler, Anchorage public defender Douglas Moody, Sitka public defender Jude Pate and Palmer Superior Court Judge Eric Smith.
