FAIRBANKS - Subhankar Banerjee, an environmental activist, writer and photographer, will discuss the effect of Shell’s planned exploratory drilling campaign in the Chukchi and Beaufort seas at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11.

The event, planned for the Noel Wien Library, will also include sales of Banerjee’s latest book, “Arctic Voices: resistance at the Tipping Point.” The book brings together first-person narratives from more than 30 prominent activists, writers and researchers.

Banerjee has become a leading international voice on issues of arctic conservation during the past decade. His visit is sponsored by the Northern Alaska Environmental Center.
