To the editor:
The election is next week. All of the candidates running for office are on the “cheaper energy” bandwagon.
I have been working with a local group diligently since 2008 attempting to get our legislative leaders to recognize our energy crisis in Fairbanks and the only viable short-time solution to that, trucking gas off the North Slope. We have met weekly on Mondays and have lobbied the Legislature every session to provide funds to make trucking project possible.
There are only four legislators running for office who have attended our meetings and have demonstrated their support for energy relief for Fairbanks. They are Joe Thomas, Joe Paskvan, Scott Kawasaki and Tammie Wilson. Of the other incumbents and those otherwise wanting your vote only Dave Watts and Doug Isaacson have previously shown an interest by attending our meetings.
The others have not in my opinion done anything concrete to this date to alleviate our energy crisis or to perhaps warrant your vote.
