ANCHORAGE, Alaska - State troopers say the death of an elderly woman in the Northwest Alaska village of Kiana is suspicious.

The Anchorage Daily News reports (http://is.gd/65DgW8) that Kotzebue-based troopers, about 60 miles west, got a report from the village at 9:30 p.m. Friday that Dolly Smith had been found dead. Public records indicate Smith was 74.

The Kotzebue troopers were in Kiana on Saturday while two investigators with the Alaska Bureau of Investigation headed to the village.

Investigators declined to say why they considered the death suspicious. A troopers spokeswoman said she was unable to release any details of the death investigation as the investigators were could not be reached Saturday.
