JUNEAU, Alaska - The manager of Juneau's Eaglecrest Ski Area says construction of a planned learning center for aspiring skiers and snowboarders could begin in the spring of 2014 and open as early as the end of that year.

Eaglecrest general manager Matt Lillard presented a set of preliminary dates for the project to an Eaglecrest board of directors committee last week.

The Juneau Empire (http://is.gd/vTmov3) says the project will be funded by $3.5 million allocated from a $25 million general obligation bond issue authorized by passage of Ballot Proposition 1 in the Oct. municipal election.
