FAIRBANKS — More smoke is expected this week from the Dry Creek Fire south of Fairbanks with more wind forecast to blow into Interior Alaska this week, according to the Alaska Fire Service.

Some growth of the fire is expected on the grassy areas on the northwest side of the perimeter near the Tanana River and the fire service plans a new surveillance flight over the fire today. Lightning started the Dry Creek Fire in June on military land south of Fairbanks. It had burned 40,529 acres at the time of the last surveillance flight.
