FAIRBANKS — State highway officials will hold an open house Thursday evening to present their plans to improve access to the Richardson Highway southeast of the 6 Mile Badger Road intersection.

The meeting will be held from 5-7 p.m. at McPeak’s Badger Store, 771 Badger Road. A brief presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The department is proposing to rebuild and extend frontage roads on the northeast and southwest sides of the Richardson and install full new crossings with turn lanes at Midland Street and at Rozak Road. Median crossing points at Davison Street and Lu Anne Road would be closed off.

The state Department of Transportation and Public Facilities has a project website at dot.alaska.gov/nreg/richaccess. For information or to submit comments, contact Sarah Schacher, engineering manager, at Sarah.Schacher@alaska.gov or 451-5361. Comments are due by Dec. 14.
