FAIRBANKS — Entrance to Denali National Park and Preserve will be free this weekend as a salute to Veterans Day weekend, the National Park Service announced Monday.
Entrance fees at all of the country’s 397 national parks and monuments will be waived to honor the military. Denali is the only national park in Alaska that charges an entrance fee.
The $10 a person or $20 a vehicle entrance fee will be waived Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
In 2012, the National Park Service will also offer free days at Denali and other parks on Jan. 14 to 16 (Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend); April 21 to 29 (National Park Week); June 9 (Get Outdoors Day); Sept. 29 (National Public Lands Day), and Nov. 10 to 12 (Veterans Day weekend).
