To the editor:

There is a real choice for voters in District 2 between Bob Miller and Tammie Wilson. I’ve spent time with both of them in both political and non-political settings. In my experience there’s a sharp contrast between them in integrity and genuine concern for our community.

I see in Bob Miller’s actions and words an approach that is both intelligent and thoughtful. What I hear and see in his actions are common-sense efforts to help Fairbanks deal with important issues such as our energy crisis. He promotes a responsible and sustainable future. I endorse his community-based approach: together we are stronger than just individuals. He means what he says and genuinely cares.

Tammie Wilson has been effective in promoting a cowboy mentality in Fairbanks — we can do whatever we want, give my friends free government big money, but the government better not tell us what to do (especially with our free government money). Against local control of our air quality, promoting eliminating food safety regulations, and voting with Anchorage legislators to not help Fairbanksans with energy vouchers despite the crippling cost of heating are just a few examples of actions that demonstrate a self-serving approach.

With my values in mind in support of my community for the last 40 years, I’ll be voting for Bob Miller.
