JUNEAU, Alaska - A coat and blanket drive will begin Friday in southeast Alaska for delivery to remote villages.

The joint effort of the Coast Guard Officers and Chief Petty Officers associations will continue through Nov. 30.

A release from the organizations says donation sites will be set up in Juneau and Petersburg for gently used coats and blankets.

Next month, the Coast Guard cutter Liberty will deliver the donated coats and blankets to Hoonah, Angoon, Kake, Pelican and Elfin Cove.
